Consumer Warning! Cheap Junk Safes Being Passed Off as Real Safes

I opened the newspaper this morning in Reno, Nevada and was greeted by a full page advertisement that read: ARMORED SAFES Set for Free Shipment to Reno Area Residents over the Age of 52.

The ad is a cleverly designed ruse to sell very, very cheap steel box "safes" -- that aren't really "safe" at all --and in a way that is, I think, manipulative and misleading. The ad states that these are "secure home safes" --which makes me wonder how secure a small safe is that can be carried away and/or opened with simple house tools?

The ad also has a paragraphs that says, "That way you'll have your own Fort Knox to safeguard everything from important documents, old coins, jewelry, cash, savings bonds, guns, gold, silver, deeds..."

Fort Knox? The impenetrable Fort Knox?

The safe is said to cost just shy of $200, and the ad shows a picture of a shipment of safes on the way to Reno in a "never before seen photo." Well, it's absurd, it's misleading, and dishonest.

Don't EVER succumb to hyped up sales garbage like this. If you need to buy a safe, whether a gun safe, fire safe, burglary, wall, or floor safe, call us at The Safe Place --and get good, honest help. 775-358-7233.

And please, DO NOT put your coins, gold, and silver (or any valuables you really don't want to lose), in a $200 steel box. Buyer BEWARE!
