Saving Money when Buying a Fire or Gun Safe

Steel is expensive, which is why low-end safes have very thin steel wall panels of 12-gauge or even 14 gauge steel. And obviously, 12-gauge steel isn’t going to put up much defense against an attack. A concrete saw will cut right through 10-gauge panels, and 12-gauge, single-panel steel can be compromised with a heavy duty ax.  Better made safes use much thicker-grade steel. Lesson? Get a better safe if you’re protecting things of value!
